Good pumpkin pie recipes?

By admin On March 8, 2010 1 COMMENT

How much harder/more time-consuming is it to make the pie from scratch, i.e not from a can? Either type of recipes are welcome.

If you mean really from scratch, like from a fresh pumpkin I would buy canned pumpkin. Not the premixed pie filling just solid pack canned pumpkin. Other than that I always make mine from scratch. I have used fresh pumpkin and if you do you want either a "pie Pumpkin" sometimes called sugar pumpkin or a Japanese Kabocha. Regular pumpkins tend to be watery. Canned pumpkin comes from a fruit you would not recognize as pumpkin. It is green an tan striped.
Here I copied one that sounds pretty good to me, easy too. But iwould use the fresh ginger.

I’ve got pie crust, milk, sugar, flour, heavy cream. Any ideas on a filling I can mix up on my own?? Without spending anymore money for ingredients.
Yea I have TONS of eggs. I cant buy anything else, my husband has banned me from any grocery stores until monday.

well not on those ingredients alone. but if you pick up a box of chocolate pudding (the kind you have to make over the stove) and put that in with maybe some cool whip on top that always makes a favorite in my house

Betty’s Peanut Butter Pie Recipe

By admin On March 5, 2010 11 COMMENTs

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a luscious Peanut Butter Pie. It is a great combination of peanut butter, cream cheese, confectioner’s sugar, and whipped cream, poured into a chocolate crust and frozen. If you need a quick and easy-to-make romantic dessert for Valentine’s Day, this pie will be great!

Ingredients:

4-oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup milk
8-oz. container frozen whipped topping, thawed
8-inch chocolate pie crust (I used a ready-to-serve pie crust.)
Reese’s cups peanut butter/chocolate candy, chopped into bites for topping

In a large bowl, beat 4-oz. cream cheese, 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and 1/4 cup milk until completely blended. Gently fold in whipped topping. Pour mixture into an 8-inch chocolate pie crust. Top with chopped Reese’s cups candy. Freeze at least 2 hours. This may be served straight from the freezer, or you may let

Pumpkin bread and pie recipes that call for real pumpkins?

By admin On March 5, 2010 3 COMMENTs

I told my boyfriend if he took me to the pumpkin patch I would make him pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie. I can’t find good recipes that call for real pumpkins you can buy from a farm. Any ideas? I’m new to baking and cooking.. so something for air heads would be nice :)

You can usually just replace the pureed canned pumpkin for the same amount of real pureed pumpkin. However, you may want to add a little but more sugar. I have a recipe online for pumpkin pie. It calls for the pureed stuff, but you can easily substitute. It also has a recipe for a home made crust! It is super simple to follow. Good luck and welcome to baking.. I am sure you will love it :)
